Let’s face it. We cry a little every time we go to fill our car up with fuel.
But let’s flip this to a positive. If we drive less we are emitting less carbon dioxide. According to the UN Environment’s Emissions Gap Report (2020), lifestyle emissions in wealthy countries will have to be cut to 2-2.5 tonnes of CO2 per person to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
We need to hit that goal if we want to enjoy consistent snow in Australia and changing travel habits can have one of the biggest impacts.
So what you can do this week is to start a new habit of choosing active or public transport for just one trip. If you live in a place that makes it impossible to do so then try and combine 2 trips into 1, car pool or drive a shorter distance and then bike/walk/use public transport.
