Georgina Falster
Climate Science
Dr Georgy Falster is a climate scientist who wants to know exactly how Australia's climate is changing. She is particularly interested in how climate change is affecting Australian rainfall and extremes. To figure this out, she combines information from weather observations, climate model simulations, and natural archives of past climate variability such as tree rings and ice cores-known as 'palaeoclimate proxies'. Together, these sources of information allow her to make holistic assessments of Australian climate variability and how it is changing. Georgy is currently working as a research scientist at Adelaide University.
When she isn't in the lab or at her computer, Georgy has a lot of interests to keep her busy. Outside winter these range from playing the guitar and writing poetry about her research to trail running, sea swimming, and spoon-carving. In winter she's in the alps telemark and cross-country skiing (free heels only!), and educating people about alpine climate change from the chairlifts.
